About the Chris Treglown Foundation Fund Award 2025
The award is open to aspiring young singers (16 years to 28 years) hoping to pursue a career in either classical music or musical theatre. We are able to accept singers with a Cornish background (Chris Treglown Award Cornwall) and also a separate award for singers from outside the county (Chris Treglown Award Gloucestershire ).
Alongside the monetary award of £1000 and £500 singers are given the opportunity to perform in several concerts and events in Cornwall through MJUK Music & Arts. The concerts are directed by Maria Jagusz, enabling them to gain much needed performing experience.
Applications will open in May. If you meet the criteria below and are interested, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The Awards will be presented at the concerts during the summer. More details will be provided on application.
Who Can Apply?
We’re interested in hearing from singers passionate about music and the performing arts, either from the classical or musical theatre genre. This year we are giving 6 awards, as below:

We will accept applications from anyone:
Age 16-28 years
Born, or living in Cornwall, or has Cornish connections
Emerging young singers from Cornwall
In full-time education at a Cornish Institution
From Cornwall, but studying at a specialist college or university outside of the county
In the event of a large number of applicants self tapes may be required

We will accept applications from anyone:
Age 16-28 years
Open to singers 16-28 years who have sung with MJ-UK Music and Arts or worked with Maria Jagusz
Emerging Young Artists recommended by a company or teacher
Recommendations will also be taken from colleges and teachers of deserving students
In the event of a large number of applicants self tapes may be required
